RM Auction Monterey MKII Tiger

Wow, that's what mine is looking like (one of these days) except I'm not going to put the stripe kit on......

Really nice looking MKII... I've never been a fan of the stripe kit and black sills.. but this car just seems to wear it all well... the forest green in the pictures looks darker which probably helps.. wonder if its just the dusk lighting in the photos or its actually a darker green?

More Memories

For those who were wondering what a Tiger II will sell for at Auction I guess we will find out in August.

Except for the steering wheel, the car is an exact duplicate to one we used to pal around with in the mid 60's. From Lexington, Mass. at the time . It experienced some minor collision damage and we lost track of it when family/job obligations took over priorities . . . . . . .

That is one FINE-looking MK11! While I prefer the styling of the earlier cars, I still can appreciate what Rootes was attempting to achieve.

Huh?

"I know 536 MK II's were produced. How many 1964 Tigers were produced?"

Kind of off topic on a MKII 4 Sale posting.

Not easy to answer. The Jensen scribes were not at the top of their game during the very beginnings of production. There are more than a few Ledger entries with missing information, but my identifiable count comes out at 1,706.

534 Is Right

I always thought it was like 633 world wide?

Mk II serial numbers ended at B382100633. That 633 is where the confusion comes in. However, regular production cars started at B382100100, for a total of 532 regular production cars. When you add in the two pre-production cars (B382100001 and B382100002), you get a total of 534 Mk IIs were produced.

Does that include the CKD African violets?

I guess I can't subtract correctly. There were a total 534 regular production Mk IIs made. Adding the 2 pre-production cars gives the correct total of 536. Sorry for any confusion! This is how erroneous information creeps into Sunbeam lore.

The Humors Of Dispute

Reading all the math posts, I get the feeling that even if we could physically line them all up, their would still be continued counting debate . . . . . .

Your above post reminds me of a funny story--when my sister graduated high school they lined up all the grads and took several panoramic pics, one of the guys on the end (after his pic was taken) ran around the back and popped up on the other end--so when you look at the wide photo he is on both ends. We could do that with the Tiger count, just move a red or green one and no one will know....haha
