There are rubber tips on the seat slider levers and there are metal side covers over the tilt ratchets, The tilt ratchets themselves could be dipped in any common hardware rubber compound . . . . . . .OR find an untended donor car.

Finding the rubber.plastic covers for the ratchet adjustments is very difficult.. I have been lookign for a friend for quite a while. You really need to get some off donor seats.. and often they are either damaged.. or not there.

These were originally moulded on the seat handles and were not able to be removed (if you are thinking of trying to find a old parts). In addition they get hard and brittle. What I did, since I and about 60% of one still on the car, was to rebuild it with epoxy putty making it slightly larger and filing/sanding it down until you just hit the old material to get the correct size and shape. Sand smooth and paint and it will look good as new and original (since the size and shape is).

Just realized I had posted before and after...

I was going to suggest what "1 of 5" already has, dip in tool handle grip rubber from the hardware store. If you dip, it will require several coatings to achieve the proper thickness.

You didn't indicate the correctness you desire, "show quality" or "make do". I assume the former but include several of the later category for a temp solution.

1) Mask off metal lever and paint 1-1/4" of end black.

2) If you want some thickness you might try several layers of shrink tubing, applied one at a time, making the last layer just a bit longer so it hides all the other layers. You won't be able to cover the rounded end of the lever but if painted black should look OK.

3) Although the item you're asking about is rubber not plastic it could be made from 3 layers of acrylic. Assemble pieces, round off and then flame the edges. If done correctly could look very close to original.

I purchased a rubber repro set just a few years back so they may be available somewhere. I don't recall the source of my pair but possibly eBay.

Growler: Purr...fect

Oh that piece. Call Rick at Sunbeam Specialties. He has the part in his seat diagram as IP82. I didn't see it in the list of parts and prices so he may not carry it any more but he may have one or two laying around...worth a try.

The more difficult way is a product called plasti dip.
