Looks like a good turnout for this Saturday. Main address is Orange County Great Park, 6990 Marine Way, Irvine, CA 92618. Our autocross area is at the intersection of runway 34L and 7R. I'm told the park will have directional signage to the entry to the runways.

Reminder, we would appreciate RSVPs, so if you are coming email me at mmichels@socal.rr.com. Mandatory driver meeting is at 9 am.

Coronado corral passes will be available at CAT Auto-X

The passes just came in. If you want one BE at the Auto-X. Heck if you don't want one, BE at the Auto-X. This is the last scheduled CAT Auto-X in the foreseeable feature. Please support this event.

Just checked out the site. The place is BIG! Lots of room to really stretch the Tigers legs. We had to borrow extra cones. Yes, the forecast is for it to be hot. Who cares? It’s hot everywhere. We will have coolers with water, but bring your own if you can and lunch/snacks and umbrellas for shade/sunscreen. We are technically not allowed more than two easy ups, which will be used for timing and registration.

Our location on the runways is a bit tricky to find, but we will have C.A.T. directional signage. Off the I 5 at Sand Canyon Blvd, Marine Way is the first right turn immediately east of the freeway. At the first T intersection, turn right toward the “AMCI Drive Center” . Signage will direct you the rest of the way.

The track management will have a waiver to sign for them. Then pick up a tech inspection/ signup/ C.A.T. waiver form. See Steve Alcala to get tech inspected and signoff before paying Rick Mueller, our esteemed treasurer. We can use plenty of volunteers to get there early to set up cones, chalk the course, take delivery of the Porta Potty and other glamorous jobs.

If we are on time setting up the course, driving meeting will be at 9.

If you are a bit new to this, no worries. Plenty of nice folks to help you learn the course and basic chalk-talk. If you just want to come and watch, please do. No charge if you don’t run. Passengers OK if over 18 years and have a helmet.

Many thanks to Dan Walters for kindly towing the equipment trailer from San Bernardino, and back .

We have the place to ourselves all day so let’s take maximum advantage. I expect we will wrap up no later than 3 or when everyone is maxed out.

See you there,

Mike Michels, 2014 C.A.T. president.

Super Job

Mike M. and all the guys . Nice long course pretty easy to go fast and loose. Please don't post any pictures of the alleged Yeti that was rumored to be near the radio active hangar:eek:

thank you to everyone involved for putting on the event at Great Park. My first autocross experience was enriched by Steve Alcala (thanks for the ride!) and Mike made sure I understood everything that was going on. What a great day! Even though we had fuel pump failure and a tow home it was great experience to meet everyone and get my car on the course! I look forward to more track action in the future!
