Has anyone had an issue joining a Shelby car club? I have contacted a couple clubs in the Denver area, but have been stonewalled. They tell me because the Tiger was never marketed as a Shelby product we can't join.

I used to enjoy showing up at the shows and park near all those Shelby clones just to show them what authentic & original looked like.

Show them this-taken from the Shelby American Automobile Club website:

"SAAC was originally set up to cater to the cars Carroll Shelby created and raced — Cobras, GT350s, GT500s and Ford GTs — but since its inception the club has broadened its parameters to accept virtually all high performance Ford-powered cars including Tigers, Mangustas and Panteras, Boss 302, 351 and 429 Mustangs, AC Mk IVs, Cobra 4000s, Mustangs of every year including the latest generation of Shelby GTs and GT500s, Griffiths, Italias, Galaxies, Fairlanes, Comets and yes—even Cobra kit cars. While SAAC does not accord "equal" status to all these other vehicles, it nonetheless welcomes them (and their owners) into the club. The reason for this is simple: SAAC has no ownership requirements, so in that sense everyone is welcome to participate"

And yes Shelby owned a Tiger......

In So. Cal. it's if you have a pulse.
They invite club members without a secret handshake or anything.
I see a head guy who runs their site Joe, he's been the greatest parking me in with really great cars when I've just stopped by to visit their events.

My car has a fairly deep Shelby pedigree. He signed the car, I have a video of him sitting in my car, and he tried to buy my car. Dont mistake this as bragging, as this all happened when my dad and I first finished it, and dad still owned the car.

But what really kills me is a guy can buy a 2020 Ford F150 with a Shelby package and join, but I cant??

That's a complete bummer and it's their loss. Some of my best pals are in the Austin Healey group , there's Morgan's and other's. Then there's the Chrysler guys that welcome anything with a Pentastar. One of our locals has a Jensen Interceptor we have about 30 guys on a local email list. Possibly if you join CAT you'll see there's several in the Denver area who may have fun ideas to get out too.

and of course the shelby club lets fake J . Brunk 66 convertibles as real shelbys - Cal DMV won't change the Vins most of the body were 6cyc and no K cars- most cars when out of state to clear the vins- crooks are crooks- the shelby clubs bought into this - that was the 80s

Bryan, I was not aware of the J. Brunk cars. Infact, I was taken a back when I read that as my name is Joel Brunk.
Thanks for sending me down yet another interesting rabbit hole!!

J.Orion Brunk -of berverly hills mustang- sorry for the rabbit hole

My mkia was a member of the saac in Pennsylvania with the previous owner.

As for linage... They are not a "shelby product" and i never like hearing them described as " shelby tiger" ... But... They have more connection with shelby than the current mustangs etc..

He was involved in their develolment and made one of the prototypes.
Ran the first factory race program with #45.
Appeared in the factory advertising.
Sold components developed for them.
Got paid a roayalty for each car for shelby Americans involvement in their development of concept.
So nobody should get their nose out of joint who owns some fibreglass lookalike or post 2012 keyring or sticker covered ford...

Just my .02 ;)

How about this blasphemer, no gas tank or gas motor.
