Soft Top Frame Question

Regarding the woven straps that are pop riveted at the front and back-

I found 1 frame that has 3 , center and sides .... and another that only has the center strap -- but this latter frame has velcro along the side rails.

they both are identical in every other way that I can see.

I assume they are just different year tops?

Yep.

Velcro and one strap is a Mk1a. At least my very late Mk1a has that type.

series 3 and 4 alpines and MK 1 tigers originally had the top frame with the three straps and the tension cables to keep the sides of the top from lifting up. these cars had the metal top boot doors. series 5 alpines, MK1A and MK2 tigers had the top with one strap and Velcro on the side rails to secure the sides of the top. both style of frame are interchangeable along with the header rail.
