I am changing out the rubber on the soft top as the old was all old, cracked and deteriorating. I have no problem with the side rails pieces, but ham having some difficulty with the head rail/leading edge piece that goes accross the car (along the windshield). I got all the old suff out of the track and can get the new in with a bit of work (and reading glasses)...but it doesn't want to stay. It was bought from SS so it should be correct. Was glue originallly used? if so, just in the tracks or on the vinyl top where the rubber fits over as well. Once I get this done, I am ready to remove the door panels (again) and re-align the windows (that the paint shop decided to remove for me). Anybody see a problem in toing this with the soft top on instead of the hard top?
Thanks

Use some trim adhesive in the track to hold it in place, the profile should allow the rubber to warp over the vynil at the leading edge, and stay, but if it wont sit right myabe a little assistance would help.

Soft Top Leading Edge Rubber

I actually use the hardtop seal for my softtop leading edge. It is firm rubber, unlike the spongy one that won't stay in. It fits the same groove, is held in place with the same 2 screws at the ends and does not come out. No glue requred. Works great for me.

On top of the trim adhesive we are always applying a few additional small bores for some rivets or set screws with trim cups. They do not harm the sealing characteristics and ensure proper seal stay for a long time. Have seen many coming loose after a few monthes despite adhesive...
