Soft top..

My original soft top is pretty ragged on my MK-2. I know Rick sells good quality Robbins soft tops.

Does anyone sell a soft top with a zip out / down rear window? Seems to me, it would be a lot cooler riding if that rear window was not there & air was passing through the car.

Thanks...

Great idea

I was thinking along the same lines the other day bit with the smaller two piece glass window I think were common in some Mustangs .
Most of that type plastic with zip, I had in Falcon were kinda leaky. Of course that was only a Cali. car wash problem...
:)

soft top

I am also looking for the same zip out rear window. I saw a guy in eastern Canada with one, but probably custom. I have also seen them on TR6's and Austin Healeys. It would be nice to stow the top without scratching or denting the window, perhaps even having a rigid rear plexi window you could take out. I'm all ears.

This going back to SUNI V, but there was a guy there selling soft tops for Tigers and Alpines with a removable window and it was a really big window.

He designed it so you could drive with the window out. That way you'd get shade and ventilation.

I tried to buy one but he'd sold out.

not exactly helpful, but...

When / if he might feel like showing it off, Bill Martin at RGD was, ahem, "innovating" on the HARD top recently. It's along these same lines...

I'll just leave it at that. ;)

FWIW, do like the concept of removable rear window. The Mustang I was recently borrowing has a hard split window...and the seal is toast... truly splitting the windows...so it's almost there...

there are some pretty water tight, yet flexible, zippers in use for drysuits, water tight bags, etc as of late. My Oracle USA crew bag has a neat rubber flap above the zipper to prevent leakage thru the stitch as well.

Will be interesting to see one of you come up with a new trick.

We talking a targa or try style Surrey top? Rootes explored a 2cv style rollback roof once

Neither definition fits...

He had some free time without tyros like myself bothering him...

So he cut some here and there. and here and there. and...

Again, not fair for me to say more. Sorry, also not fair of me to bring it up.

Just fun for him so far... I'd think...

I would think a good upholstery shop could add a zip out rear window pretty easily. The hard top on my blue Tiger had a flow though design but that was because I was not running a rear window.

So as far as anyone knows so far no one actually makes a zippered or removable rear window for a Tiger top? As was suggested, I suppose you have to buy a top & then have it modified by an trim shop? thanks...
