Spent the weekend at Sears Point for the races--great turnout of cars and perfect weather. here are a few......

The blue Tiger kicked butt, finished in the top 10 I believe.

Thanks--this weekend and Laguna Seca in August are the 2 best races I attend each year---fun to overdose on cars.
 
Great pictures! The Blue and White Tiger is the Monster Tiger, probably driven by Chris Gruys and I believe owned by his ex-wife, Lorraine (who usually drives the black Tiger pictured).

The red Tiger belongs to Wine Country Motorsports owner Dave Lipski and was driven by his son, Grant?

We last ran this race with the SCF Tiger 2 years ago. Since then we've skipped it in favor of a mid-week event in early June at Laguna Seca which is a better tune up for us for the two weeks there in August.

Is it just me or is the black tiger Loraine is driving sporting the Fraser team logo too? The car looks like a HSC homage car.. many similar details.

Just curious, how do they keep those Tiger hard tops on? Can't be stock, positive clamp method or weld?
 
This morning I received an email from Gordon England, who doubles as a driver and a wrench on the Gruys Tigers. Here's part of it...


Tom Dyer who drove the Monster at Goodwood was driving this time and he finished 4th behind a Corvette, a Comp Cobra and a 417 Cobra. He also won the Trophy for "Performance and Presentation" in Group 10...

I don't have any lap times for sure but it looks from the video like he was running 1:55 or so which is not too bad, although there is a lot to do to make the car work properly on the Goodyear Blue Streaks we are running now.

Grant Lipsky was indeed driving the Red Tiger and he did a very god job battling with the Comet and a Corvette more or less all race.

As you know, Lorraine's car was indeed built as a homage to HSC car but this was done by Jim Wallace in the early 80's. When we did the rebuild in 2010 after Colin Kimmons and Steve Alcala restored the somewhat battered and tired shell, it was decided to leave it largely as it was done back then. The badges on the car... are not Fraser logos but the Prancing Moose and a tribute sticker to my friend and Frazer Nash racer John Kerridge who sadly passed away in March.
 
I checked with Gordon. On the rear mounts, it's stock. But it's custom on the front. As I recall, the Monster's top is aluminum.

The hardtop on Dave Lipski's is from the UK. It's also light weight. I'm waiting to hear back from him on how it's attached.

Thanks for checking. I felt tracks were concerned about small parts falling off and would be even more so with something the size of a hard top. I guess with the correct front mount it could hold the top on.

I saw him a year ago, April, at the Shelby Reunion at Pomona. I didn't have the chance to speak with him.

Previously he was working for Shelby at the Las Vegas facility but I don't know if he's still there. He used to be involved in the Silver State race.

Gordon England sent along a few photos from Sonoma for me to post.
The first shows Chris in the middle and Gordon on the right. Perhaps Tom on left?
The second shows the Monster with Tom driving "running hard"
The next is Lorraine driving her black Tiger.
The last shows Tom in the Bourgeault.

Update: I heard from Gordon. The person standing on the left is Bob Waid. Bob lived in Tenerife in the mid to late 60's and was the owner of the Group 5 Fraser Imp that was shipped out with the Monster. Bob is one of the "prime" links to "back in the day" in Tenerife.

On the hardtop.. it looks like the fibreglass ones they are producing in the UK. They have rather crude J hooks for the front and sides, no clips on the rear. The rear 1/4 light windows are fixed.

They are available from Honeybourne moldings
