I just received the September issue of Sports Cars & Exotic's and it has a very nice 4 page layout and article about the Sports Car Forum Tiger. Some hard to find pictures from 64 & 65... I always enjoy shots of the Tigers whipping ass
on the Cobras....hehe

I have a Auto-X on the 11th of next month with the Mid-America Cobra Club. I hope to show most of them what a Tiger can do.

AUTOCROSS IN KANSAS CITY

DUKE:
Kansas City Region SCCA is a very active region. They have an autocross at Metropolitan Community College every month. Unfortunately a Tiger will get it's doors blown off by some young kid in a rice burner. But it is still a good time. Check it out.

Thats cool by me. My goal for an Auto-X is to keep improving my time. The Tiger will look better that any rice burner anyway. I'll check it out.

With my engine, I will be in some stupid class that I will not be competitive in anyway.

FWIW, I found the book "How to Autocross" by Andrew Howe very helpful to me. Tom McDaniel, well know Tiger autocrosser in the past and current SCCA Pro Solo competitor in a Vette recommended it to me. Amazon.com has it.

As you know, tire pressures are really critical. Would be great if you have someone with you who can take pyrometer readings after a run.

As the bumper sticker says, "drag racing is for fast cars, autocross is for fast drivers"! Nice to be good in both worlds...:D

Sunbeam Tigers fall into B STREET PREPARED where you would be classed with M class Bimmers, Subru WRXs, and Honda 2000s. Unfortunately you won't be ableto put 450 hp to the ground on street tires. That's why I had the 10 in wide slicks and ran in B PREPARED.

Actually with a 347, Duke would probably be in SSM or something like that because the motor is not a 260 or 289. The 347 is still okay for the more extreme class because the block is a Ford Motor Company produced one.

For local club competition, the SCCA gives the club discretion to modify classifications for sake of competitive grouping. Since Duke is not running for national points, they could technically put him in any class they wanted. For instance my MG rack would technically would have moved me up to a modified class, but they let me stay in B Street Prepared. Didn't put anyone to any particular disadvantage.:D

But as I recall, they would technically at least start at SSM for Duke's 347 motored car:)

Duke's got a small block ford with aluminum intake and 4 bbl Period. Wide Wheels and tires kicks him out of stock class. Best to run for fun and experience (novice class) and not be worried about compitition or class
