Three years ago I redid my steering wheel, a furniture shop put it together and I finished it. What I did was put some varnish on but the wheel seems to have different shades of color. It's alright but could look better. Would rather do it myself any pointers on making it better? I also need to paint my horn ring I believe I heard it should be satin black, do I paint front and back. It was in pieces and pretty ruff, only thing holding together was the leather wheel wrap. Thanks Kevin

Hi Kevin

The 2 spokes should be black. looks 'matte' black ( or at least 'semi-flat' ) to me but it's old... like me

Is that a repro horn ring ? the inner ring looks 'thicker' like the repro... they're a lot stronger than original but don't think they've been made for a while

Horn ring

I got the horn ring online asked the seller if it was original, said yes
To me I thought I was a re-pop because it wasn't painted, no difference to
me I didn't have one and the price was reasonable.
I thought you could still get them thru SS, this one cost less then they
were advertising, but not much. Thanks for the reply on the color. Kevin
As far as being old that's my excuse, although last fall at the TEAE united
I asked if anyone knew who had the parts for sale in the parking lot. Was
told he was just here he's the old guy with grey hair, had to smile most
everyone was old and had grey hair.

Easy to tell side by side... the repro I have is 10.5" vs the stock one @ 10 5/16" not sure why that is
