Few Pics, a nice mtg and a fig leaf...
The STOA Annual Swap and Meeting was attended by about 40+ people, and about 10 cars were present. Of course, with my being late, I failed to grab pictures of a number of vehicles prior to their departure post-meeting. Lovely cars.
Also another great chance to see more of the Sunbeam Specialties facility and buy some bits...
Many discussion points revolved around SUNI and Monterey upcoming events and looking forward to meeting up with CAT folks for the events.
There were a couple of misunderstandings regarding this site and practices, which I believe I was able to assuage. One being that non-CAT members wouldn't be permitted to post. Which certainly doesn't seem the case and would be quite exclusionary. I realize the effort that goes into site maintenance and have no issue paying for forum access like this, and just consider it super cheap relative to other costs with the car. But, it would seem at odds not to include folks with valuable information and/or available parts as it gets harder to find things. (?)
Lots of talk was had on "how could" or "what could be done" to help energize the multiple Sunbeam related clubs, without changing each's unique vibe and membership. Online or other. It's not for me to propose or make any offers, but I won't shy from offering opinions when I deem necessary. That goes both ways... "Opinions are like ........, just about everyone has one"
The swap was limited in scope, but there were interesting steel wheels (5"+) and a bunch of original parts, toploaders, linkages, master cylinders, etc (Gary), hardtop / door caps, door latches (Matthew). I probably should have bought an item or two... so I did... a baseball cap, lol.
Few folks missed due to being at Dixon (cobrakidz), but that honestly looked like a nice event too...and much closer for some. Lawn parking!
Anyway, the general vibe is excitement about 50th Anniversary, SUNI and Historics get togethers, and another chance to try and build relationships with fellow owners, whatever club affiliation.
Hope to meet some of you SoCal brethren in Monterey...
