Stock plumbing?

My first Tiger had the heater was already disconnected because it was drag raced previously. My second Tiger had long since also been modified So now looking at this bone stock one, I realize that the water that is not sent through the heater core goes through the carb spacer. Huh? The spacer is to insulate the carb/fuel from the engine heat. So why run hot water through it?

I plan to add an aluminum intake. What have others found to be the best method of adapting to an aftermarket intake? Just go from the heater valve straight over to the Tee that sends it back to the water pump?

Hi PITT40,
The original spacer with the water passages through it would have been to help in atomising the fuel during cold weather running,
Not great for performance use once the engine is warmed up.
To plumb your heater to an aftermarket alloy manifold, take a hose from the heater valve to a 90deg fitting, on the inlet manifold, postioned to a tapped hole on the drivers side of the manifold.
The other hose from the heater can be fitted to the water pump, next to the thermostat bypass hose.
