Thinking my MkII was originally Canadian delivered...

I bought my MKII in Idaho in 1980 and only drove it for about a year before starting my restoration.

Four moves across the US later and with my new garage done, I'm starting the tear down again.

Noticed that my installed Temp gauge is only in Degrees C, the Oil Pressure gauge is kg/cm2 although it shows lb/in2 at the top, and the Fuel gauge is in Liters with gallons shown at the top.

The gauges I purchased from Sunbeam 260 have some with the primary being, Gallons, lb/in2 and Farenheit degrees although the metric measuremetns show at the top.

Speedo shows MPH as the main measurement.

I will switch them out but never noticed that mine weren't primarily US before.

Mk II Gauges

Norm,

I believe you have the standard Mk II gauges. They were different from the Mk 1s. This is not to say your car was not first delivered to Canada, though.

The gradations on my Mk II gauges are as follows:
Oil - Top is lb/in2 and bottom is kg/m2
Speedo - Out is MPH, inner is Kph
Temp - Degrees C only
Fuel - Top is Gallons and bottom is litres

I think the Alpine Series V had similar gauges (except the speedo) and the Mk 1s' gauges are like the Alpine Series IV's. While I'm not the original owner, I believe my car was first sold here in California.

Hi Norm

Sounds like you have the proper gauges to me..

Here's a pic of what I believe to be the correct MKII gauges including the optional amp gauge... also correct for Series V Alpine...

I had 2 of those 4 gauges in my MNk1 when I bought it--have since added the correct ones.

Check

With Chuck Daly he has told me he believes he has one of the highest numbered MK2s
That arrived in late 67 thru Canada. I've seen the car in person but do not recall the instruments.

MKII smaller gauges are the same as the SV Alpine.. the speedo and tach are unique MKII in that the have the small font numbers that are rotated tot he aligned vertical view :)

MKII Guages

Bought my MKII in 1984 in Montréal Canada.
My guages are like the one in the picture.
Did not come with ammeter.
Bought the 35 amps and the clock since then.

I have a Mid-production MKII and the gauges agree with what you have. I know my car was originally purchased in Florida.
Best Regards, Dave

Looks like they threw in whatever was readily available. I'll put in all U.S. and sell the rest of which I will have many.

Canadian Tigers should smell like cheap beer and end everything with "eh". There are usually gaps in the grill teeth and shards of blood-spattered hockey ice scattered about. . . . . .:D

I have seen the KPH alpine and tiger speedos. The cars delivered in France have KPH aswell. There is a Tiger here that was an Alpine 260 with KPH and a couple of SII Alpines with the inverse scale gauges.
