Tiger Articles in Two Magazines

I just got back from Barnes and Noble bookstore with a couple of additions to my modest collection of Tiger-related magazines.

In Thoroughbred & Classic Cars (October 2014) is an article about a well-restored Tiger (appears to be a Mk 1A, based on the photos) owned by a Mr. Paul Wankle of Pleasanton, CA. There are some lovely photos of the car and the author driving it around Highway 1, in recognition of the Tiger's 50th Anniversary. The article is fairly accurate and well-written, but there were a few inaccuracies. The car's owner stated that it was completely stock except for the 15" wheels, but looking at the photos show an after market air filter housing and what appears to be an Alpine steering wheel (unless it is a Tiger steering wheel covered in black wrap). Mr. Wankle is quoted as saying that the LAT options included steering wheels. Also, the article states that the Mk II came not only with a 289, but a 4 bbl 289. The car is gorgeous and as stated earlier the article is fairly accurate.

The other magazine I brought home is Classic & Sports Car (October 2014). It has an article on the prototype Le Mans Sunbeam Tiger running at this year's Le Mans Classic. This is the car we know affectionately as "The Mule". I haven't read the article yet, but plan to spend some time pouring over it, seeing as how Michele and I were at the Le Mans Classic this year and saw the car (along with one of the other Le Mans Tigers and a Le Mans Alpine.
