Tiger color

Hi All,

I am in the process of restoring my 64 MK1, which now has a very shoddy red paint job but originally came in Wedgewood Blue. I am having trouble getting my head around that color. Putting aside the value added of having the original color on the car, what do you think of that color on a Tiger? Put another way, from a purely aesthetic point of view, what do you think of Wedgewood Blue? Thanks for weighing in.

Wedgewood Blue - 1 Vote

My car is wedgewood blue and I am keeping it that color. It is one of the rarer colors. Also what colors do you mostly see on Tigers: red and green.

I have a Falcon convertible that was originally blue and I changed it to Rangoon red which is a stock color. But that was when I was young and it stood out from the crowd.

My other Tiger is British Racing Green, I will end up painting that one to a dark green, but as a tribute to my first car a mustang hardtop that was Ivy Green, I will paint it that. I always liked a mild metallic paint job.

You will get any number of suggestions from this crowd from the purists to the totally modified, but it in the end it is your car and what you are comfortable with. Keep it as it came from the factory if you are going stock of which I am doing with mine or modify it to your tastes and liking.

But always have fun!!!

It's Your Toy

If the degree of restoration leans toward original configuration as some do, then my vote would be for stock paint flavor of Wedgewood Blue. Other than those 2-cents, it's yours to play with . . . . .

car color

My car has been recently painted, it was originally color code 86, forest or brg green. I was not particularly in favour of the stock green as it lacked the depth or richness I was looking for. After talking to my valued friend who TAC's cars, he mentioned to me that if I picked a shade in the cars stock color, that it would be just fine. I chose a very nice dark green. Having said that, it is your car and you can decide and make it your own.
My two cents.

Mike - as most have said paint it any color that you will be most happy with. In my opinion (which should not count for much) doing what others want will make them happy but not make you happy.

I also have a Wedgewood blue Tiger that will be repainted the stock color only because I like that color and because I'll be able to easily find it in a parking lot full of Red and Green Tigers (somewhat teasing). Another thoing about having a not normally seen color is that many people will ask you about it and great conversations begin. I know this first hand by having a Red and Gold Shelby Hertz, you won't believe the number of people say that they never made Red and Gold Hertz rent a cars. I would expect similar conversations with Wedgewood Blue.

In closing go what is in your hart and enjoy the journey.

Thank you, guys. Good advice by all. This is truly what's called a fancy problem! Look forward to sharing pics when I figure it out. Cheers.

I have to agree with Doug...I painted my last Tiger code 100 Med Blue so it would stand out, plus I love the color. And it's very easy to find my car in the Monterey 50th anniversary poster from last summer. :)
