TIGER FRAUD

With all due respect, how can you be so certain the car is fraudulent? Misrepresented, certainly (wrong year, FWD). And there are some things not original on the car, obviously. But I wouldn't call that definitive. Lack of VIN, etc., could mean just a clueless seller. Someone snapped it up pretty quickly at $18,000. Hopefully the knew what they were doing.

Must have nerves of steel.

There are good deals to be had out in the world, normally by relatives of the deceased selling items they have no interest in to buy parts for their "drifting" rice rockets. At my age I just don't have the steady nerves for these kinds of "gunfights". Two of my sons make a good living buying wholesale and selling full retail. The car prob is a 67, just manufactured late in the Mark 1 prod and sold in 67, way it was done back in the day.

Cloning?

Might be two red Tigers with the same VIN! How did Rootes make that mistake? Or is won a fraud. That won is a loser.

fraud

I just can't believe that the 3 year old boy in the red car is trying to pass off an alpine as a tiger.

If that is the case I blame the parents.

The pictures have been used in several fraud auctions.. and the car is in Australia.. so i'm pretty sure

"Don't mess with Leroy Brown" or Michael

Good call Michael! Old age and wisdom beats youth and skill every time... or one of those sayings. The Tiger community is indeed fortunate to have their guardians of the breed on call 24/7 watching over the flock. Wander too far from the fold and it can be dangerous out there!! Thanks for your oversight.

A Small Community

When I saw the location as Ellesworth, ME, the fraud bell rang. The Nor'east ain't that big and we know that the wee town outside of Bangor doesn't have one of those little critters. . . . . .

I was going to bring that to everyone's attention Michael, age doesn't always trump knowledge and the two don't always go hand in hand.:D
I did notice that car disapeared rather quickly and the e-bay add gives no details of bid activity or details.
Still looking for a good one - Greg.:)

greg,

There was a good one in the price range last week.. but i found out about it 1 day after it came on the market.. and it had sold that first evening already.. was a good car at a good price... i would have told you had i heard about it in time... ears are still to the ground.
