I broke mine trying to get the odometer free. Anyone have a spare ?

I had the speedometer in my car seize up (the whole drive for the needle and odo) and had it repaired at Nisonger in NY. They charge a flat $175 unless it needs something major. That includes new gaskets and calibration. It also includes restoring the cosmetics like painting the needle, but I had them skip that because mine was in good shape and I wanted it to match the other gauges.

You might be able to find another one for less, but this would be freshly serviced and be original to your car if that matters to you.

I got it turning manually. So I tried spinning it with a drill to get the odometer to move and it did for a few seconds at 70mph and then the needle dropped to zero mph. When I inspected closer pieces fell out of the light hole. So something catastrophic occurred inside. I couldn't even identify what the pieces were on my dirty garage floor. I have the car up on stands and have been cleaning and removing all sorts of stuff so there is dirt and debris everywhere.

So if anyone has a 140 mph Mk 1 unit, let me know.

Well don't throw the damaged speedo away... I'm sure it would be repairable.. Maybe speak to the gauge shops ... It might be more economical to fix it still
