Tiger telescopic steering column - dowell removal

Having to change out inner splined shaft. Previous owner had welded adapter to the spline shaft. There is a small dowel on the outter that engaged adjustment groove on inner. Anyone know how to extract? Hopefully don't have to drill this out. This is item "9" in the parts manual.

Thanks again members!

2 cents & bloody knuckles

I always end up drilling it out carefully on the press, and then spotting back in an identical piece for re-assembly. The old Guru machined a "lift & drift" tool once but I get nervous trusting my life to a piece that's been spread and beat on . . . . . .

Thanks. Issue is that previous owner modified inner spline shaft for a racing wheel. He welded the wheel adapter to spline. Now I'm looking for a replacement inner shaft (shaft w/adjustment slot). Really don't want to have to pull out the entire column.

Spare Parts That Work

Any later Alpine from a recycle yard will serve up the sliding inner splines.
