My father once told me that some days you are the pigeon other days you are the statue. This week I am the statue . Firstly I missed our local celebration of the Tiger 60 years as I had covid ( as a physician it’s an occupational hazard ) but it’s apparent I missed a great weekend .

Today I took the Tiger to work as I was driving along I heard a ping and then a loud clunk . The ping was the headlight surround hitting the road the clunk was me driving over it

It’s pretty beat up as per the photos.

I will post in the wanted area for a replacement. Failing that it will require extensive panel work. When I put it back on I’m going to modify it to screw on like the later cars !

Sympathies on both. Around 1971, I was driving on the 405- going from the valley to the westside- when I hit a bump at speed heading up the hill towards Mulholland Drive. My right clip-on headlight rim proceeded to fly over the car and landed untouched in the lane behind me. As I was pulling onto the shoulder, an 18-wheeler did its best impression of a boulder falling on Wiley Coyote, contorting the headlight rim into an unrecognizable shape. Needless to say, I drilled the other headlight rim, as well as the replacement rim.

You are in NZ, most of the audix range of the hillmans , Singers, etc used the same rim as the alpine/tiger.. and yes.. it would be a good idea to get the screw on variant.

You will need to get the little speed nut tab for the lamp retaining ring. Also can get from other routes cars.

The rim should be available from the NZ club without much issue.. worst case speak to the Aussie rootes clubs.

clip ones suck- sunbeam Spec. sells the screw bracket for the mod- easily done

I also recommend nverting to screw on - not difficult to do. A friend hit a bump while driving, the left front HL rim popped off and 'hovered' over him (top was down) and he was able to reach up and sucesfull grab it. What are the odds of doing that, lucky for sure. sometimes, you can work the pot metal back (slow and easy, heat softens them up), have seen some repaired that looked worse.
