Trunk seal and shutting it?

My trunk seal was hard and I decided to install a new one so it wouldn't rattle with nothing there. But now the trunk is so hard to close. I am careful but have to put decent pressure on it to shut it. I can see someone else pressing in the wrong spot and denting the trunk. The seal also hangs out slightly at the bottom. Did I do something wrong?

seal

if you bought from sunbeam specialties you probably installed it backwards. if it's from VB throw it away. it doesn't fit due to being an entirely different type of seal.

I got it from another CAT member with a bunch of leftover items he had. Must be a VB. It's just basically a lip seal. It doesn't really look like I expected and it's been so long since I removed my old one.

The original boot seals are a blade profile, the VB ones are a rounded double wall section iirc

VB generic seal.... The correct sunbeam is a single blade that curves in profile.
