Turn signal switch?

Anyone have a pic of one? Both sides would be helpful.

I'm a little disappointed in Sunbeam Specialties. For the premier Sunbeam parts dealer their instructions stink. They are all text that have been copied 3000 times and barely readable. There may have been 2 pics of the vent repair kit but the turn signal switch has zero.

Anyway, I have it apart and I'm not sure of the reassembly. With all the small parts and springs, I have a mess right now.

I recently replaced the plastic mechanism in my Mk I Tiger turn signal and used a couple images from google to verify I put unit back together correctly. If you can't take your laptop out to your work bench (to reference google image search), or you can print out the color pictures as reference.

Good luck.

Is your switch the type with the high beam flasher? They can be tricky to assemble. I have restored a few switches-send me your switch and parts and I will put it together for you-just pay shipping both ways. Or bring it to the United and we will do a tech session on it! Eric

What cars used a switch with high beam? I was planning on removing the foot switch on my Alger and putting it on the stalk... is this a high/low switch, or just a flasher?

Its just a momentary flasher, you pull the lever back for high beam some people have used it for the horn wiry aftermarket steering wheels

PITA

Yup: I've got a couple of the flash type here we need to finish someday. Think I'll just send them off to Eric with a blank check . . . . .
Still looking for a restorable shifter handle . . . .

Randy I think I have a long shifter, but there are probably closer options for you.

Turn Switch Indicator Repair

So, in finding two threads of similar nature, I've elected to post here as this one asked for pictures.

I'm in process of fixing the turn switch and this is a "feel good" repair for me personally. It is really one of the ONLY things I have recollection about when riding in the car with dad. He complained about the turn stalk and having to hold it... not sure why I have such a profound memory when I can barely, barely remember any of the aural sensations about the car. The smell of the interior was the second one and I'm afraid the extensive overhaul is minimizing or removing that ol factory memory as well.

Pics:
- Hinge pin rivet head drilled off
- Contact cover screws (2) remove those, remove remainder of plastic part (white)
- Note Cu contact with spring, remove and clean.
- New pin ready for insertion after new plastic piece installed.

Anyway... My question for those who have performed the SS repair... The ballpeen hammer part... After inserting the hinge pin, the instructions call out firing the end of the open end pin to act as a rivet. I'm almost certain to screw this up. I just see the pot metal shattering...

Any recommendations? I do not have a press, but the only concept I've considered is placing a round screwdriver handle in a vise as the underside support while I whack at the top of the pin head (scary). Other ideas?

pin

Hi Derek, I clamped a small ball peen hammer to the bench with the 'ball' side facing up.

Then I put the new pin in place and put the end that has to be flared upside down on top of the ball.

It has to all be in line or something bad will happen.

Using a small hammer and a punch that is about the diameter of the flat end of the pin I tapped it gradually until the flare is made properly and things move as they should.

If you work up to that point gradually there is less risk of overdoing things to the point where either the pin is too tight or the pot metal is in pieces.

If you screw it up be sure to post pictures. Actually a video would be better, you might hit your finger with the hammer.

Thank you... um, mostly anyway... haha

I like this idea better than what I was configuring. As soon as I'm back from the hospital I'll report in.
