UPDATE on August 18th, 2024 CAT Meeting at Golden Cove Shopping Center!

Hello all! To keep things simple and cool, we will be having a low key event at the Sunday British Car meet in Palos Verdes where the temps are moderate and the drive there is pleasant. Many folks are just plain tuckered out from Tigers United so unless something crosses our path that is too good to pass up, we’ll be taking a break until August. For those in the area who didn't make it to TU43, it would be nice to catch up and see everyone.

CAT member Larry Paul has reached out with a warning about one of the roads to Golden Cove shopping center!

Please note:

Please be prepared to direct people to drive there via Hawthorne or PV Drive West and NOT via 25th street/PV Drive South.

Palos Verdes Drive South in the Portuguese Bend is in severe distress due to severe land movement. I strongly advise that no-one in a Tiger should drive across the road. The have forbidden all bicycles and Motorcycles from crossing that section and there is no way that I would take my Tiger across it.

They are repaving it every 2 weeks to try to keep it passable, but I have no idea what shape that road will be in on August 18th. I will not (and cannot) drive across the land movement zone at this point unless it has been paved within a few days.

In March this was published where it says:”...In the Portuguese Bend Reserve area, land has moved 2.5 to three feet in the past couple of months, while Abalone Cove Reserve has seen 1.5 to 3.5 feet of movement..."

As stated above, there are other ways to get there and most from the north don't use the Portuguese bend way, but just be aware and map it out if there's any question about your route!
