Changing out my home made door handles for new home made door handles.
Before you ask, the stock ones would not work due to the roll cage legs coming down in the area where the door handle would be. So had to move them. The first pair I made were heavy duty aluminum made with parts from a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
After seeing a set done by Joel Griffin and how simple and lightweight they were, I ventured to make a new set and ditch the heavy aluminum stuff.
Set up the band saw and put a trim router in a vice (not for the faint of heart, don't try this at home kids).
Some Blue Tape, some Sharpie, and the parts were cut out of 1/4" x 2" x 4" Delrin bar.
Supporting the bracket with 2 screws, one existing in the door, and one new should do the trick to keep the Delrin tight to the door.'
Last work was on the door actuator rod, which is oddly larger then 1/2" wide which made some additional work on the custom router set up as the largest bit I had was 1/2". Finally chopped it to size and rounded the end.
Push forward to open!
