I just recently purchased my Tiger and are wondering how the ventilation system is suppose to work? There is always hot air blowing inside the passenger compartment. The two vent controls under the dash are pushed back as far as they can go towards the engine but hot air still continues to come out? I would think when they are pushed in no air should be coming out? Are I correct in my thinking and what is the fix to adjust these?

There are two issues to check.
1. The vent flaps tend to rust open or shut. Yours may be rusted shut.
2. The heater control valve tends to leak and may not be shutting off the flow of water to the heater core.
The previous owner of my Tiger just stuffed rags up the vent, not realizing that the actual problem was a heater valve that was not correct to the Tiger and actually worked opposite to the original. (Off on the dash caused the control to open on)
 
Only been driving them since 64, but I can tell you that the heat always works in summer and the AC in winter . . .just sayin'

Everywhere there is a hole or a old rubber grommet will be an air leak. Plus one on the flaps not usually for the mechanism to stick and even have a broken flap rivet. The levers are off in the left facing forward in case you're lettering is gone. By pass heater and then work on the firewall leaks etc.
 
Thanks for the replies, I will check all the suggestions. Also what would cause the dash board temp lever to stick closed to the left side? You can't move it at all, I undid it at the coolant heater valve and didn't help?
 
It's a steel cable in a galvanized cover. Plus the joints in the hinges can be stiff. Let's see some pics.
 
Remember you have a small block Ford that acts like a furnace on days you don’t want it too. As said previously, plug all the grommeted holes and with vent doors working properly, you can find and install some Dynamat on the floor, as much as you can on the fire wall and trans tunnel. I did this and it has helped with road noise and radiant heat.
