What size tire in the boot

My spare tire currently does not allow the trunk panel to sit flush on the ledges nor allow the Dzus brackets to latch. It seems as my tire needs to be about 2" narrower. I believe I have the original steel wheel as a spare and it is fitted with a Falken FX-07A II size 185/70R13 85H M+S

What tire fits under the trunk panel

Thanks, Josh

Although I have 205x60x13 tires on cosmic 13x6 wheels, my spare is a Sumitomo 175x70x13 mounted on a factory steel wheel...no problem fitting under floor board in trunk.

For show purposes I often mount Goodrich 6.00x13 bias ply tires on the factory steel wheels...and that spare certainly has no problem fitting under the floorboard.

Here's what a 205/60-13 looks like...you get used to it:rolleyes:

You can also use a spare tire from the FOX body Mustang. It has a four bolt pattern and is lighter in weight than a "normal" spare tire. Sometimes they are hard to find because drag racers like to use them for front tires. Here is one on Ebay that is listed for $150 but open for offers: 180740406307.

Looks great!

Is that a 'spreader' bar between the shock 'towers' ??

I call it a 'boot stabilization device'...it's actually a load bar that you'd see in a pick up truck. I might just be imagining it, but I think it cuts down on body shake over bumpy surfaces. It's a good converstion piece, at any rate. You should see my front spoiler- more 'outside the box' thinking:D

Now I find that my steel spar doesn't even fit the hub. Looks like the Cosmic stud holes (and my studs are 2.75" on center and the steel wheel is more like 3". Looks like I'll bee looking for a new spare wheel as well as a tire

Your Cosmics must be different than mine, either that or your steel spare is not the stock factory wheel. Has the hub been modified?

My Cosmics and stock steel wheels fit perfectly on the original hub.

Our wheels look the same (both the steel and Cosmic). I can not tell if the Hub has been changed. If you get a chance can you tell me what your bolt spacing is. My Cosmics are 2.75" apart and the steel is 3" apart. Thanks, Josh

Our cosmics must be different...the studs holes on both my steel and Cosmic wheels are 3" apart.
