Window Regulator

I opened up my passenger window regulator on my MK 1 to try and fix the loose handle. This is what I am seeing. When I took it apart I thought that part of it is broken. See pictures. The repair kit I have from SS has some of the parts but not all of them. I am guessing that after 50 plus years some things will break.
Will these parts from a series 5 alpine or Tiger the same as a series 4?

Thanks Paul

Paul,

There was a change in the doors during siv production where they sqaured the corners. At the same time they relocated the window winder mechanism so it was higher and less inclined to get you to contact rhe hanndbrake lever when winding. This change i dont think impacts the parts you need so alpine s3-v and tiger should be fine.

If replacing the actual post the winding handle mounts to remeber the GT style doors have slightly longer posts to account for the deeper trim depth of the GT style door trims.

Series V

I looked at the Rootes parts manual for the Alpine, and it lists two window regulators (one per side) for all Series V Alpines and a different two window regulators for the Series III - IV Alpines. But I would trust Michael's comments that the difference might only be in the height of the post where the handle attaches.

Good luck!

Sadly im not near the cars to confirm. I'd like to know the difference from a Sv door.. It in theory should be the same as the cross over body SIV from late '65.

David does it list different part numbers for the post/ stub that window winiding handle and internal door handle pin to? I would assume 2 lengths 1 for ST and one for GT

Different Regulators and Different Handles

Attached are three Snips I took of a scan of the Rootes Alpine parts book. These are from section YX - Body Fittings from Series III. Plate B is taken from the diagram showing various parts, including the window regulator and other parts for the doors. Note item 112 is the window regulator and item 119 is the window handle (crank).

Page YX6 lists the parts, including the regulators. For cars from B395000001, the page lists 2235704 and 2235705 as the regulators. Just above that the parts list has 2 other regulators, part numbers 2218488 and 2218489, but indicates they are for cars "Up to intro. 2235704/5", whatever that means.

Page YX7 lists three part numbers for item 119 HANDLE. Part number 2220891 was superseded by 2225150. It says that 2225150 is for cars "Up to intro. 2235436". The third part number is 2235436 and is listed for cars "From B395000001".

Hope this helps.

It appears (per Page YX7) that the base, crown, spring, and pin were used on all Series III through Series V Alpines.

Thanks for the info. I found a complete regulator setup that is in better condition than mine.
