wiper tube to motor nut

Lame... Making plenty if errors now. Any tips for this?

I stripped out joining bolt / screw from wiper motor to wheel tube and nut.

Or known good available full mechanism you would part with?

If possible, would like to only replace the tube and nut + maybe the screw on motor side. I don't even know if operational, but looks ok and cleaned cup exterior ok. Wasn't planning to crack open case... Nut won't come over flagged tube ends...

If not available, what say you about jb or epoxy of nut over stripped screw? I can no longer engage nut in threads at all, even though it looks as though it should catch.

Thanks for your leads or suggestions.

(Sigh...)

I just got a wiper motor last week in my pile of parts...the nut is missing though. Will that work?

Thx Bruce it mayyyyyy?

But that tube is fitted with bulbs on each end.?.. I can't get the nut off... So I'm wondering...

A) how was that assembly attached?
B) if no tube nor nut with your assembly, hmmmm....
C) I can cut the bulb off, but that seems extreme.

Don't panic yet; will dig thru the loft pile a bit later for ya.

Thanks to searchers and more detail + add on...

Ok, here's the varmin in detail.

Schematic. #12...

Bulb Fitting. Note how flange prevents escape of nut.

Case. Looks ok inside there, no broken teeth, lots of grease. Going to knock on wood as assume function is ok. So, it would simply be best to replace the fittings I wrecked.

And... since you may be looking around wiper parts....I also have a broken under cowel plastic piece for the wiper shaft. Probably no big deal to seal any underneath void with caulk, as long as I can get enough pressure to form seal on top of cowel., with gasket and pivot shaft nut.. But... would be nice to have a full piece.

If none around... will look for pvc of similar ID to go over shaft. OD shouldn't matter that much...

Thanks a bunch, going to ask locally today too...

DD,
I have this motor and cable you are welcome to. I do not have the casing for the cable, however, see the Series III rust bucket in my garage being pieced out as you read this. I have not been under the dash yet, but you are welcome to the whole enchilada if you need whatever parts you are missing.
As you can see by the photo, the motor unit I had in a box has threads that are marginal also, but looks usable.
Just let me know and pay the postman.

Paul thanks

Your screw looks different than mine... But may fit task admirably if same final diameter and same threads. I'll send you pm via the site. Much easier to unscrew the motor case 1/4" bolts and mail just that than a whole assembly.

I'll continue "shopping" locally or see if anyone else has the exact match in their bins... As usual I'm impatient...

Thanks very much!

And oh boy... I sometimes forget how lucky I am with our lack of rust. Phew!

AND... PS: Are you posting via iPhone or iPad? This is an issue with the image uploader (or apple photo inability to name images on device), it will only take one image...as they're both auto named 'photo.jpg' or similar. Bummer.

I think I found it-I didn't realize it was the tube AND the wiper thingy's too. How can I tell if it's the right one? Guess I should take a pic and post it here then you can decide. Will do it when it's light out tomorrow.

Hey Bruce..woot! Best case...

tube and nut AND that screw from motor case. The screw comes out easy, the motor case back plate is simple. Like 5-6 screws and the screw slides UP and then is pulled down the cable to escape. This would be huge. Paul's screw may work, but if you've a tube and nut + screw combo, that would really, really do it.

I need to speak with you regarding another bigger part too. ;-)

TUBE: just first section with attached loose nut, and mating screw fitting from motor case. Would be awesome find!

Thanks, Derek
