Looking to purchase a GOOD CONDITION. Tiger steering column assembly . My secondary acquired Tiger has been abused , beyond the word , from past owners . The bearing seat tube is majorly egg- shaped . Tim Morins kit may work , plus some repair ideas , but seeing what's available out there . Thanks

Which part of the column is wrecked? Depending how far up the setup the bits are, parts from a series 3 onwards alpine might be all you need and they are easily acquired.

Steering column rebuild

Does anyone know of who does rebuild of the column. Also who has a replacement turn signal assembly? Thanks

If you have the turn signal switch ( are you meaning that or the turn signal assembly bellow headlights?) You can get a rebuild kit from sunbeam specialties or hunt nos on eBay . also there are members with decent s/h units.

Not sure who offers column rebuilding

The main tube is Hogged out / Egg shaped where the bearing worn / broke jammed / whatever ( ? ) . So basically , it would need a new tube so the bearings have a place to seat .

So if you say I can use parts from a Series 3 onward ? ? ? I didn't think the steering tube separated from the Alpines steering box to be useful on a Tiger .

The Alpine steering column is exactly the same as the Tiger at the top end. It is only at the bottom end they differ.

RE: Steering column tube replacement

The Alpine steering column is exactly the same as the Tiger at the top end. It is only at the bottom end they differ.

I know the Alpine inner shaft has the worm gear at the bottom , so no use there , but on the upper , the telescope functions are the same , so that's helpful .
But ...... what about the main tube case ? ? ? Can a Alpines column tube possibly be used with the inner Tiger shaft . It seems the Alpine , and the Tiger columns BOTH have spot welded "Bumps" that work as bearing stops . Kinda interesting , and cool if they will interchange ( Just the tubes now ) .

***** Also , Adm. I know this posting / inquire / info , has kinda gotten off the main area of subject . So if it needs to be moved , Feel Free to do so . ******

I believe the alpine column inner section can be expertly welded to the tiger lower. That done the upper outer column can also be welded to the lower Tiger column. This will solve the upper bearing problem.

Believe me , I have already been giving this idea a serious thought , even before being suggested here . The seam could be hidden under the dash .
