United early registration expires on July 15th!

Come join us at the largest Sunbeam gathering in the USA this year! Located on the banks of the Mississippi River, the host hotel is located near plenty of things to see and do with some great back country roads to drive on too.

The host hotel is nearly sold out and event early registration expires on July 15th-after that date, registration costs go up. All details are located here https://teae.org/registration/

There will be an all Rootes car show, swap meet, driving tours, hospitality suite, tech sessions, and many other things to keep you busy. All Rootes cars are welcome in any condition! Come and join us for a great weekend.

TEAE Road Trip

We're driving a Tiger.

Plan to swing through Reno on the tail of Hot August Nights. Will hookup there with Charlie Ockels from the STOA with his Tiger. Then on to Bonneville hoping to see Jere Teepen run at Speed week. We plan lots of sight seeing along the way.

Should be a great trip! Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Best of luck Buck. I think my right foot would cramp up pretty bad driving that distance in a Tiger. Looking forward to meeting you at La Crosse. We can talk scanners....

Claudia and Buck's Excellent Adventure

Buck and Claudia are sending me road trip pictures as they make their way to TE/AE United.
I got these without commentary but I think these include shots of them lost in the desert, making it to Reno and a stop at a repair place to explain why they are using a home plumbing union on their exhaust pipe.

Doesn't everyone carry the AKA no hub coupling in their spares kit ;)

Since coffee cans are plastic now and most coat hangers are too, it's the next best choice.

on the road again

from Claudia and Buck:

After leaving Rose's Lariat Café in Rawlings it was a great drive on though
Casper to the Black Hills that were gorgeous. The scenery was so beautiful I
could understand why the Sioux considered that land sacred.

After the Black Hills we joined I-90 in Rapid City to an east bound run.

We had a language lesson just west of Chamberlain, SD. We'd encountered
"Bump" warning signs many times on the trip before then. Most of those were
not a big deal, sometimes not more jarring than a tar expansion joint. Well
that "bump" outside of Chamberlain was not one of those. It was located in a
construction zone where the speed was restricted to 60 but it bottomed the
suspension. This was at night so I really didn't see it before I felt it. It
was more like crashing into an open trench than a bump. But the Tiger
survived that encounter just fine.

Left Reno Tuesday AM & right outside of town discovered an accident closed
I-80 for several hours. So we pulled over and shut it down until traffic
started moving again.

Our route retraced a lot of the California Trail used in the gold rush era
and also used by the Pony Express.

We were headed to the Salt Flats when Jere advised us he was leaving due to
the poor conditions for Speed Week. So we continued on towards Salt Lake.

Later in Rawlings we left the California trail but did stop at Rosa's Café
in remembrance of her daughter, the late Tiger family member Judy McDerm.

TEAE United is over

The United is over but the partying continues in TEAE's awesome hospitality suite.

The Dayton boys (Webb & Jennings) and Barry S were big winners.

How were the winners of the longest drive treated? The organizers comp'ed one room night for those who drove from CA! Sweet!

It rained every day but as the song said, "It never rained till after sundown,by 8 A.M. the morning fog had..." It rained every night but not a drop during the day. A Tiger Camelot.

It was a great event that was wonderfully run.

Tomorrow, westbound and down!

"California, here we come. Right back where...."

Buck,
The white car got to be the car chosen to carry Doug's Lord Rootes trophy back to Ohio for him. No room in the Tiger.

I can't think of a more elegant transport for Doug's Trophy than your LeMans

We made it to Denver. Very ready for some sleep.

Buck,
Jean wouldn't allow a Tiger head to occupy the driver seat. It had to ride passenger.
