Front cross-member wedge help.

I’m in the process of removing my engine for rebuild. I have removed the front cross-member but failed to notice the orientation of the aluminum wedges. I can’t find which way they should face anywhere online or in the shop manual. Can anyone help?

flat to the bottom, thick to the rear....

IF they are in good shape...

...You can READ the orientation right on them.

They are MARKED "REAR".

AND, originally, they are riveted on the X-member.

Thank you, I replace the original ones years ago ( they were like powder)so both sides are flat, but the wider part to the rear is what I need to know. Thanks again.
