Went to install a new fanbelt and it noted the generator bracket is only held on by two of the three mounting bolts The fender side bolts upper and lower are both present but the central upper bolt is missing I believe this bolt mounts into the inlet manifold . I assumed it would be the same as the other bolts ie 3/8-16 but seems to bottom out at an inch and a quarter and the thread won't engage -What is the correct bolt to use here ?? My car is RHD and there is not a lot of room between the bottom of the generator and the steering knuckle -It would be some what problematic if the generator fell down and jammed this at speed !! Thanks Karl

I do not have a Tiger with a generator, so I don't know if the bolts on my car are the same as yours. However, here is a snapshot of the Rootes Parts Manual Supplement for the Tiger, showing the parts associated with the Dynamo (Generator). Hopefully, this helps.

SBF heads have 3 threaded holes on the ends of the heads.

Early heads had all 3 holes, both ends, with 3/8 bolts.

Later heads changed the upper outer hole,

on the right side, when looking at the exhaust ports,

to 7/16 size..

This most likely happened to go with the use of Alternators.

Most early alternator mounts used the 7/16 bolt as a main pivot point.

It sounds like there is a later head on the car.

Quick Fix, drill the Gen bracket to fit the larger bolt.
