SUNI Early Registration Ended

The Early Registration Period for SUNI has ended. The response is overwhelming! 159 attendees registered bringing over 80 Rootes vehicles to SUNI VII already!

It appears that not only will we satisfy our room commitment to the hotel, but we will probably have to try to arrange for more. At this time, the majority of those who have registered for SUNI have not yet reserved their rooms, so the choice of rooms with either a single King or dual Queens is still available. https://bit.ly/39TJ0WY (There has been heavy demand for the rooms with a single King bed.)

The problem with the hotel’s SUNI link persists. It still defaults to a 4 day stay instead of 5, necessitating clicking on the checkout date to add the Friday night stay. (You can also use this method to add on days at either end of your visit to receive our discounted group rate.)

One “problem” we are encountering is trailers. This is a good problem to have – lots of Rootes vehicles in lots of trailers! Nearly 2/3 are planning to bring their vehicles in trailers – 58 trailers so far. Each trailer represents the need for at least 3 parking spaces – one for the Rootes vehicle, another for the tow vehicle and one or more for the trailer. The Hotel has adequate parking for its 200 rooms. Our trailer/Tow vehicle parking requirement currently will add an additional 116 spaces (and SUNI is still over 3 months away so there’s plenty of time for more to register with trailers.)

To help coordinate all our parking, Chass Jones (PTC) has volunteered to be our “Beachmaster”. Our Beachmaster’s D-day will be our arrival day on Monday, September 13 which could be chaotic. To avoid that, Chas will contact those trailering to coordinate and inform them of the parking plans. It is possible that those trailering may need to unhook and park their trailer separate from their tow vehicle to maintain legal fire lanes. A hitch lock and some chocks might be something to consider. Depending on the amount of trailer parking space we obtain we may have to park them tightly.

We have been working hard to obtain extra parking. We are negotiating with the owners of the shopping center directly across the street from the hotel to rent part of its parking lot. This will likely be our Trailer parking area, but this has not yet been locked down. A more distant location could still occur. Regardless, Beachmaster Chass will be in touch.

Buck,
What's the ratio of Tigers versus Alpines and other Rootes vehicles?
