Hill Climb Stupidity

Circa 1969 - 70, I ran ole' # 78 up the Mt Washington (NH) Auto road in late fall just to get the trophy bumper sticker of a successful climb. The road back then was flat butt ugly. It was brutally cold at the top of course with a shearing wind. The way down got eye-popping as the brakes faded and 1st gear downshift was not low enough. Gravity was winning and I had to hang the tires into the roadside gulley's to drag us down. The bride was not impressed followed by lots of stone damage bodywork . . . . . .youth may have it's moments but this wasn't one of them.
