Windshield Frame Removal w/Glass

In order to get some extra clearance in the garage, I might have to remove the whole windshield assy. Does anyone have some helpful hints? I did remember a while back about some spacers when reinstalling the frame. I have not yet looked under the dash to see how it is mounted and they only mention glass removal in the Shop Manual. I also didn't see anything in the CAT Shop Notes.

Thanks,

Shocking

Caution: Disconnect (isolate) the battery first, second & third. With a 1/4" drive set and a bruised knuckle or two, you can get the 5 or 7 hold down nuts from behind and beside the dash. And yes, there is a wedged shaped rubber shim in the corners that you will want to preserve. PM if you need a photo of a frame so you can see the bolt locations.

Only that once you do, immediately put the assembly somewhere safe so you don't step on it in the crowded garage and break it, like I did.:(

I also did that... The problem is, when one is of a "certain age" and has on the "reading" glasses, the floor is just a blur... crunch!
