GT door panels

I'm finally getting an interior in my early Mk1a Tiger.

Most of the work is done; now we are focusing on installing the door panels.

I ordered "GT" door panels and initially thought they are the wrong panels.

The vendor thinks the door is a GT door so I'll try to install them again.

Does anyone have a picture they could post - showing the whole inside of the door using GT door panels?

Or any portion of the door/GT door panel would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Allan,

No pics on me right now.. but the GT doors are identifiable by the areas where the clips go in along the bottom and up the front leading edge. There are raised top hat sectios with holes in them the clips slot in to.. the non GT doors they have the hole in the door frame.

Thanks Michael,

By your description the doors are GT doors for sure.

But fitting the panels hasn't been as straightforward as I had expected.

If you or someone could post pictures or email them, that would be extremely helpful.

Although the photos are poor, you can just see the standing GT panel clips that "flush out" the later panels. If these are missing on your doors, we make them and loan out an aligning tool to get them in the correct spot.

Thanks Oneoffive,

The pictures show the GT clips. My doors do have such clips.

The GT panels clip to them, holding the panel differently than a non-GT door holds the panel, and the GT panels cover the door differently.

It's unclear how much of the door is covered by the GT panel but maybe it will become self evident if I keep fooling with the panels :)

I don't know how to post a picture here but here's a link to a pic of my door:

FYI: The last couple of interior sets we handled took some "adjusting" to get looking right. I heard from a couple other owners this winter about some fitting issues, even from the more noted interior supplier. In the end, just be patient and think it thru. Your skill level got you this far already. Keep at it, or take up serious drinking . . . . . . .

very nice tiger

Hey Allan,

i looked at your web album and saw the video on the next page.. Tiger is looking VERY nice.. Rootes lamps, Dunlop alloys (are they the ones i pointed out for sale a few years back?) .. it found a very good owner.

GT Door Panels

Allan:

Great job with your Tiger; the "diamond in the rough" is gleeming now!

I have the same GT panels in mine and they fit okay but not great. The clips on the side and bottom were the easiest to install but I've never been able to get the clips to seat properly at the top along the pad roll. I found the holes in the plastic door panel don't come close to lining up with the holes in the door frame. But you can get it done with patience and some flexibility.

Good luck and hope to run into you again down the road.
