These pieces are for sale on Ebay. They are very rare and this is the first time I have ever seen them for sale. Item 310697155126. Needed to make an Alpine kit correct for a Tiger and missing on some of the most perfect high-dollar restorations. Not mine but I will be interested to see what they go for!

Starting price of $200, not that keen. Will be interesting to see what it goes for.

One of the Sunbeam guys did a shot at repro'ing some a little while back.. weren't 100% corrcet bt very close.. they were around this money.

It would be nice to have them as a complete kit.. but really only useful for a concourse competition car.. or if you still have al the original bits on a car.

They are worth that much? Might take my tool kit out of the trunk....and the air cleaner off, and.........:)

A few years back someone sold an original spark plug socket set and it went for north of $700, if memory serves.

There was a person down under who was selling a repro set for around $150. I bought one and it looks very good. Actually, too good because there was no wear marks on it.

You would be surprised what a complete tool kit goes for so if you have one
don't loose it !! Here is a picture of the correct MK1 tool kit. These can easily top $2000 in this kind of condition.

also interesting question regarding if it's actually the correct part...

FWIW, the numbers on the socket and the tommy bar quoted by the seller, and seemingly shown partially in the pics, do match the ones on those parts from my original owner tool kit.

Interestingly (to me), I recall the tool kit being discussed on the STOC forum some time ago. If I recall correctly, the Tiger kit was said to have a yellow plastic schrader valve tool, as opposed to the copper one found in an Alpine kit. I do not see that mentioned on the Classic Tiger components list. Mine does have such a valve tool in it, but I cannot swear it was in the kit from day one.

flathead

screwdriver...

Almost 100% certain that I used it for digging out 'valuable' coal deposits at ages 8-9 back east. My parents were so proud of the collection. As a parent of a 6 and 9 y/o I too see the great benefit of letting kids dig for hours for no good reason... cheerily egg them on is even better.

Of course... it is now lost...

If anyone has a lead on a like screwdriver, it will be on my 'nice to have one day' list... The kit is mostly complete. Just found the plug tool, randomly, amongst many other scattered. May be tougher to find some others...

(searching for tigers in Tokyo this week...)

Derek, the wooden handle screwdrivers were used on other cars, jags and healeys IIRC. They show up on ebay UK quite often. There was a really nice dark blue Tiger MKIA with panasports for sale in Tokyo mid-late last year.

There is also a nice red S3 alpine with chrome wires.

socket

the series 1 & 2 alpines used the brass tire valve tool. rootes then switched to the yellow plastic tool for all alpines and tigers. I recently bought a screw driver from welsh jag and they are much shorter in length than the one used in sunbeams. they do have the same shape handle.

The rarest item to find for the tool kit, other than the spark plug socket and tommy bar, is the pliers. According to Classictiger.com web site the pliers do not have any makers mark on it. Most that are advertised as Tiger pliers are marked "TW" with a square shaped wire cutter hole and are incorrect. The other pieces can be found on Ebay if you look long enough.

As the prices of Tigers increase so do the needed parts. Recent Ebay prices - TBON $1725, Air Cleaner Lid $731, Top Fan Shroud $373, HT Rear Window Trim $285.

Need vs Want

As a factor of disposable income or as a critical 100 point show car class defined stock.
On the subject of tools, estate sale pickers really focus on resale power tools and not the box of odds and ends that your holy grail tool is laying in. Go estate sale picking and go to the garage 1st. I have a tool box full of vintage Honda kits to put together. I needed and wanted a tool kit for the VW. I used to look for the Hazet tourist VW tools, till the repops came out. Finally when not looking I was offered a original set for 60 bucks by a toy and bike collector.

From a pickers point of view knowledge is everything as well as blind luck. Shoe leather and lots of hours looking at crap is also the biggest time eater.
The good part of the forum is to make known what these scarce parts look like so they don't get trashed or used by the chitlins to dig in the yard.
Nice story DD.

Hide your women and children...

and tiger parts... Because 'they're coming.'

For those of you with running cars or better, feel glad to be on the upswing. For those in my situation, that just want to put it back together and enjoy it, I'm getting afraid. If a frenzy stats, it'll just hurt my effort; available time at shop, funds, etc will be depleted on those with greater means as the market gains interest...

Another recent 'signal' from Cobrakids SCCA group For Sale listings...

The GT-XXX market is simply crazy. Looking back through that list, could find just about any type of model avail withing the year. I can understand if GT-350Hs etc are so rare, but you could still find multiples for sale in there alone... there are more GT-XXX than many other like cars.

NOTE: Our MKIA has a GT-350 remote oil cooler on it, so add $X000 to my value please.

top fan shroud

As the prices of Tigers increase so do the needed parts. Recent Ebay prices - TBON $1725, Air Cleaner Lid $731, Top Fan Shroud $373, HT Rear Window Trim $285.

I thought the fan shroud was a 1 piece unit, is the top fan shroud different??
or does the top fan shroud cover the fan shroud, I don't know help me out. Thanks Kevin

1 piece

Is the fan shroud. I think S.S. had or has a repop one listed in their catalog.
Most guys going personalized ate just putting a bigger aluminum radiator, which most likely turns the stock shroud into wall art .
