Steve Sorensen's vintage race Tiger has been invited to both the Monterey Rolex Reunion and Pre Reunion. So now we'll have two Tigers competing there this year.

We plan to load the SCF Tiger into the trailer on Thursday and then tow north on Friday. In the Pre Reunion this coming weekend we'll practice in the mornings and race in the afternoons. There is some question as to which class the SCF Tiger will run in this weekend but it will probably be Group 4. Steve will probably compete with most of the Bp cars in Group 6.

Then the following week we'll be all together in the Reunion's Group 5A. We'll practice Thursday and Friday mornings and then we'll race twice Saturday.

I've heard through the grapevine there will be a Tiger gathering Thursday evening at the Baja Cantina in Carmel. Hopefully someone who knows the details will post the information for Tiger owners who happen to be in the area.

As usual, feel free to stop by our pits to hang out.

Sorry for the delay but we have been working on the details.

STOA will be having a general club meeting on the patio of the Baja Cantina
starting at 1:00 pm and CAT members in the area are welcome to join us. We have seating for 20 members at the moment but the patio is generally open with abundant seating all afternoon.

We have arranged TIGER only parking on the Fly Fishing practice lawn all day & Evening at the Baja Cantina. The lawn area is at the far end of the parking lot and can hold as many as 20 Tigers, perhaps more !! THis is the first year that this area has been open for parking so let's see if we can get it full of Tigers

I hope to see you all there Thursday night

As I wrote we are still working on the details...

The meeting has been moved to the Baja Cantina's new back dinning room
which can accomodate a much bigger crowd. We are also working on a fixed price ( $20 ) lunch menu that will have a choice of five entree items plus a drink...Booze will have to be a no host item but available at the bar !! So if you are in the area please plan to join us for lunch and Tiger talk...

Bring your Tiger and park in the Tiger Corral all day/night FREE of charge...This year parking in the shopping center will cost $40/car due to the very large crowds from years past

Sounds like fun and of course we will miss it by a day--not going down until Friday. Maybe we will bump into you while down there for the races.

If the crowds around here are any indication this coming week is going to
a record setter........I spent sometime with Buck at the track this afternoon and the SCF Tiger is looking good and has passed tech inspection which turns out to be more detailed than past years...no more fooling the techs with non spec parts. THe weather has also changed to our more normal summer August
sunshine. It looks to be a spectacular week of car stuff and overload...

Take heaps of photos (and videos!) of all the on and off track Tiger action for us on the other side of the world..

I'm hoping to make some historic racing here tomorrow.. middle of winter and today its sunny and perfect.. hope it holds out for my trip tomorrow.. should have gone up there today for the qualifying, but i got up late and it is a 3 hour drive each way.. so to late to get there today

Can't wait to mingle with all the Vette owners.....

I am good friends with Peter Brock and as you know he did much to pen the 63
C-2. He will be realeasing his new book on the Corvette at this event. I'm hoping to have him and his Coupe in our Tiger corral on THursday night...
I cut my teeth on Corvettes !!!

I have had a couple too, usually when I see Vette owners up this way they are the stereotypical ones--shirt with the top several buttons undone, gold necklace and high maintenance girl at their side. :)
Don't tell anyone but some of the cars are very cool.

"Reunion" write up

L.A. Times Business (?) Section of today's paper. Sat. 8/10/13 Has a good read for anyone interested in vintage cars and or racing cars particularly Cobras!

I personally think racing vintage cars is worthwhile as a "sport page item" (No room after baseball, Golf and detail on pre-season football injuries?) but also thankful that they published a well written story centered on Lynn Park.

The online link: http://www.latimes.com/business/autos/la-fi-hy-autos-pebble-vintage-racing-20130810,0,5302646.story

And don't miss the short "Meet Mr. Cobra" video link in the story and here: http://www.latimes.com/videogallery/76972465/Business/Meet-Mr-Cobra

Pre Reunion

Just got home.

Our SCF Tiger had a tiny fuel leak that caused me to not run it Saturday. It took me all day to finally figure out that, like water, gasoline runs downhill. I "fixed" a fitting a half dozen times before it dawned on me that the leak was from the fitting above the one I was working on. Oh well..

Then in today's first session John drove a few hundred yards and the fuse powering the ignition blew. First time in over ten years. (We're hoping it was just a fluke and not a sign of a serious wiring problem. Let's all keep our fingers crossed!)

Finally, in the last session of the weekend John had some success in the main race. He had to start last (29th). John drove "conservatively" but was still able to end up 6th.

Steve Sorenson debuted his Art Firmes race Tiger today at the Pre Reunion. The car looks really nice. While he took it easy during today's shakedown, I expect he'll soon be quite impressive.

back,
at the beach (but looking forward to MoonDoggie's STOA lunch at the Baja Cantina - hope to see many of you there!)

Just got back at the beach.

The SCF Tiger ran great but John was the real star. One of America's leading car collectors described his Tiger drive in the main race as "Perfect".

The SCF Tiger ended up as the highest placed SBF with only a 427 Cobra placing higher in the Ford camp.

more later,
