Get Smart and 2 Alpines 4 sale on eBay

Alpine wreck

Saw the top one in a CL ad about a month ago. Owner had that and another straight driver Alpine he was selling. He thought they were worth a lot more than I'd want to pay for them, I think his minimum price on the wreck was $2500 and he wanted about $6k for the driver that wasn't anything special. I've been looking for a straight S-IV/V Alpine to make into an electric car.

Justin,

I'd like to thank you for alerting me to the Get Smart model kit. Being a "ToyTrainGuy", I am also a Slotcar-Guy, a (Auto) Promo-Guy, & a Model Kit- Guy. Can't have too many toys....

I hope that in this auction I was not stepping on any other Tiger owner, but just FYI, there is another Get Smart kit on auction right now...

The box on this one appears to be in better condition than even the one I just bought.

Thanks,
Clark

Hi Clark,

Glad to hear. I felt kind of goofy including the link to the model but I know some of us . . . ah . . . um . . . kidz out there like to collect this kind of stuff. I'm a little reluctant to post these links as sometimes it pops quite a few more heads up to do battle with. I'm not real in to it but don't mind picking up a piece now and then when I get a chance.

Look what I just picked up. Can't believe I was the only bidder. Such a deal, diecast with display case, numbered limited edition even. Can't wait for it to arrive to take it out and play.

It's a beauty, nice hit!

Another toy guy here

I must confess that I am also a toy train (O Gauge), model car, slot car, motorcycle, and hot rod guy in addition to the Tiger. Toy Train Guy is not alone here.....:)

My die cast model arrived today and I'm surprised at the fine detail. I had to take a look at Automodello to see how they compared. I would have to say some things would give Auto... a run for the money. Very nice for a fraction of the cost. Cons: the wheels look like from a plastic model, just raw plastic and the dash board lacks a lot of detail. It is a numbered edition but number is printed on a separate card which I believe Auto... had the same problem. Pros: door handles are open loops not filled in and interior mirror is detailed not a tab of chromed plastic. Windshield wiper is to scale and very fine however there is only one. 2 tops included older and newer styles.

Once I had the thing in front of me with literature included I had to do a little searching and ran across another similar item. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131295504496?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&fromMakeTrack=true White sidewalls and wire wheels (or silk screened, hard to tell) with driver (007?) included. I bought another similar to this one and of course all are made in China.

I didn't realise the vanguard was a limited edition. They did several versions, blue, red and rusted and patched. They all come with hardtop and soft top. The James bond ones have proper wire wheels and little 007. They also font have the poxy homes for mirrors on the front gurards. If you want more Alpine and tiger models there is a great selection of racing alpines with high detail and some police and road tigers from some of the UK suppliers... But not cheap ... About 115 each

e bay

there are also 1/64 scale models of the Dr No cars that are in a display case. these were issued by Shell in the UK. over the years I have bought the vanguard models with sequence numbers and I also have some that do not have the numbers.

Probably not what you're talking about but I got one of those Johnny Lightning models on eBay that must be about 1/64 scale. At the time about 10-12-15 years ago there was a young 10yo, or so he claimed, entrepreneur that was hand painting them and selling them. Not so hot but a clever way to pad your allowance if he was being honest. If you're into *any* of the 007 vehicles check out this link and scroll > (right) through the images http://s219.photobucket.com/user/we...bies/small/143UH007LEYLANDSHERPAVAN1.jpg.html

You're right it is a hard and soft top. Makes more sense. Of course the card with the edition number fell out unnoticed while opening and I had to hunt around for that awhile. Vangauard has / had some other Sunbeam models.

I have a few of the die cast but the 007 one is nice looking for it's size--too bad shipping would be high to the USA.

How "not expensive" is that in dollars? Just curious, thanks.

about $10-12 IIRC..... i always hear "shipping is to expensive" as a default from most statesiders... yes its more expensive than shipping internally within the USA... but sometimes you have to go outside the home market,.,,. be greatful you have access to so much stuff locally. Bruce.. you owned 3 sunbeams and a GT350 at the same time.. a few $ shipping wont kill you...

But I had to sell one of the Tigers.... :)
I looked at the shipping on a few of the links in Europe--range from $10-$36US so not too bad. Thanks.

I bought a pre-assembled Tiger model from eBay once. When I opened the box I was surprised to find 2 models instead of 1. One was partially completed the other had been completed and all detailed out. White with red interior. Even had red carpet which was a good match for the real car. Just saying you never know what kind of deal you might find on eBay.
