A 65 Tiger MKI went for $142500 at Mecum Austin auction today, an exceptionally nice car BTW. Isn't this a new record for a MKI?

Nice car, but similar ones have been selling in 70's as well. Auctions seem to draw out the red mist in buyers. That said we have seen many auction results in this range over the past 18 months and car is for sale weeks later.. So who knows... Here is the listing. I would say if its a real sale it has been well sold....

Re: record... There are mki cars that have sold higher, and of course mkii and ex- competition cars that have too.

IIRC, Mecum says they don't include the buyer's premium in their posted sales price either so add $14k++ for the buyer!

I like this pic of the 'original' black paint coming off the diff and showing the Glyptal under... as it should be
I have those Spintechs on my car mounted right at the back... don't like 'em :(

This car has been painted all over on the bottom side. Neglecting to paint over the glyptal would have been intentional.

All you need it two stubborn guys to go head to head in an auction.
