First and last Tiger

I was watching the Car Show this morning and they were at Canepa's looking at the last Cobra ever built. That got me thinking---does anyone know where the first and last Tigers are?
 
I don't know about the first Tiger but the last one made is owned and cared for by a member of the STOC in the UK.
 
I know Ford owns the 1st Mustang, plus the 1st of the Cobra R's too--I wonder if Rootes would have kept it? Who knows, maybe it will pop up in Shelby's personal collection.....haha
 
Well the prototype Tigers both exist.. sort of the "first" Tigers. The last car the orchid green (baby vomit) MKII belongs to graham vickery who IIRC also owns one of the early jensen prototype tigers that had the wire wheels (car still has splined hubs now with minilites) the early cars were the AF development cars, but in theory not production cars.. not sure who has the oldest surviving B947 .. good question for norm or graham vickery.

I saw both prototypes in Monterey several years ago, plus saw the maroon one when Bo Cheetle owned it.

maroon one? do you mean the candy apple red miles SII based prototype?

Hi All

About a year ago, in an email exchange with Norm regarding steering wheels in early Tigers (I had heard that very early Tigers had black plastic wheels), he sent me the following photo of the steering wheel on B9470001 (see attached) with the following note;

Here's an "as found before restoration" shot of B9470001:

So Norm might have some additional information. The Registry lists a 5/00 update location of Racine, WI.

I think the pic shown is of the shelby race car, that car was later destroyed IIRC and some of the parts then found their way into the SCF74 Tiger.

As for the chassis number listed on the racing sports car site, i'm not sure it would be acurate... seems odd norm would have a picture of the car if it was the shelby one.. i'd go with norms chassis record. ;)

Bob, if you mean the photo of the miles prototype.. those pics are late 2004/05.. the car was on ebay a coupl eof times that year.. at the dealer the ad waslisted.. then at the Monterey auction... might just be the lighting in the pictures?

Always found that car a funny one.. it was the first "running" prototype, so in theory the first tiger, was sort of factory sanctioned.. but as we all know.. handled like a pig.. so to preserev it as original means to ensure it stays a bad car... though apparently was a but quicker than the shelby one in a straight line.

I know this tread is ancient, but when I recently ran across it again I realized that most Tiger historians and owners don't know about the attached letter from John Panks' office which identifies the Shelby race car as B9470001.

First car

I know of the first JAL 000001 car to come down the assembly line is in Washington State. I have seen it, it’s a Gorgeous car, Moonstone with a scarlet red interior.
