Looking for the two jamb nuts that are on the end of the later steering shaft. We had to cut them off from a very corroded unit. Any help on thread size/type etc. very appreciated. Any machinist out there with a solution ?? Thanks

I hope this helps

Are these the nuts you are looking for? From what I can determine the shaft may be a metric M24 x 1.0 (bolt thread dia. 24mm x 1.0 pitch). The nuts seem to be 6mm thick (two are 12mm thick) and fit a 33mm wrench. Good luck in finding these.

It is not metric all threads on Alpines & tigers are imperial UNF & UNC in most cases

Really Odd Threading

Our local machinist came up with an exact measured reading of 15/16" X 26 TPI. This only shows up in bicycle steering shafts !!! What ever prompted Rootes to wander into a bicycle shoppe?

Agreed BSC 15/16" x 26 TPI

This exact size seems very rare, but it matches the British Standard Cycle thread charts for larger and smaller diameters (all 26TPI). These were used on steering shafts of bikes and motorcycles (and Rootes Group vehicles) so bike and motorbike shops are probably where you should start looking.
