What did you do with the Mini Cooper S ? Just out of interest since I started my British Car Experience with these cars. That's the very reason why I like those period alloy wheels. Just received a set of these Dunlop repros:

Great stuff and still have a set of original matching Dunlop center caps somewhere. Will look good with a set of 185/70x13 tires. Still considering on which car to put them 🤗

Only picked and flipped the wheels after pulling the caps , only driven in an Italy home market Innocenti. It was a Craigslist seller that had the S. he had found some Dunlop D1's as I recall bigger and probably a little rarer.
 
Innocenti wow. Had a Hill climb 1300cc Innocenti Cooper and several 1001's. Long time ago. Back to Sunbeam stuff...
 
To answer Michael-King's questions......."It’s a bit hard to see in the photo, but did you fill the front sill seam at the leading edge of the door?"

--Answer is no, the fender sill seems are still as original separate as built. All the other Mark I seams are original leaded smooth

"As for the fabric soft top as an option. Do you mean a dealer option? Id not heard of a factory fabric top."

-Answer I need to find the source I used when I read that fabric tops were an option if ordered through a dealer using the importer. Le'st go with no it was probably just a dealer option, or accessory and not a Rootes option. THX.

Re factory options, Dealers ordered cars using the official importers inventory. I have an actual Rootes Importer window sticker for a Mark I Tiger. The one I have was printed by the importer, in this case British American Imports and the dealer of record was Imperial Motors Grand Rapids MI.

And did list the few options like
  • Heater $59
  • White Walls $35
  • Tonneau Cover $38
  • Seat Belts $12

Prices were set at the Port of Entry which in for this car was Detroit and totaled $3,569

Nice! With the belts if a factory order they would have been the irvin parachute belts...and had the embroided rootes safety tags by the anchor and a small clear plastic mounting clip to hang the bucmle on the inner face of the wheel arch...did it still have those when you got it? They are a great option.. Especially if 3 point and not just lap
 
Regarding the Tiger window sticker I mentioned. Its not from my car B9471789.

I just happened to have bought that window label for a Tiger B9470385 many years ago. It is unused for some reason and the sticker protector strips never been removed. I tracked down the car's owner and offered the window document to him for what I paid for it. Hard to believe, the owner did not care about buying it. I even offered it to him for free.

My Tiger did have blue seat belts in it when I purchased it. I still have one of the pair of seat belts and have not been able to find the other. Most of those seat belts were dealer installed as they were not required in 1965. The seat belts in mine are blue, but I bought new reproductions of the aftermarket ones used by most dealers in the 1960s like the ones that were in it when I bought it.

I never published a picture of it out of concern someone would reproduce replicas of it.

B9470385 is listed in Norm's book which is how I tracked it down. It's 86, forrest green. Some day I hope it gets back up and running, but it was a bad wreck early on in its life and was still in Grand Rapids. Maybe someone reading this will know its fate.

One thing I found odd about the window paper, is that it does not mention the paint or interior color and any other numbers.
 
Wow what a great story. If someone offered me info on my cars I'd be buying em at least an adult beverage...

I remember asking Norm about Charles Hillier former owner of TAC #82 one that he had done as an inspector. I got a "I didn't get many pictures with my Brownie."
* Brownie is an old flash bulb top view film camera.
 
I had a bunch of the original sunbeam ( rootes) car club cards, warranty, delivery sticker and order sheet. I scanned them and posted online along with dealer brochures and flyers.. Sadly webshots got taken down
