Would you believe that of the three tops in the barn every one of those screws has been replaced with a variety of "make do" hardware store odds & ends!

Can I join the club? My hardtop quarter windows have the small button on one side and a large one on the other...

Well after waiting almost waiting 12 months I bought new buttons and rubbers from a chap in Australia. My problem is one of the sides has the screw the other does not try going to a local bolt shop for sucha small imperial size screw is not possible

Just contact the seller and tell him the screw is missing and ask him to send you one or go to a hardware store and go thru the bins. It's probably a # 10 fine thread.

The seller made the buttons not the screws. Our hardware stores do not have bins of threaded screws. So thats why I am asking

The scew is listed in the parts manual without a size

The wee buttons are tapped for a 10 X 32 pan (or truss) head and are very short. I do not expect that they were ever chromed.

I am in the process of restoring my 1/4 lights the 10-32 screws have oversized heads that use a Phillips screwdriver and are chrome plated

Good the ones i ordered from Aus are stainless with a hex head. I am sure I can make them work. One of the reasons is here in Aus we have bigstorms in summer (now) and I did not like trying to put up the softop in a big storm years past

The machine screws for the 1/4 lite window buttons are # 10-32 X 3/8" phillips pan heads. They are readily available in stainless steel from the NUTTY Company (www.nutty.com). These guys have many of the machine screws & other fasteners for our cars.

The window buttons were also used on '60's vintage Mini sliding door glass windows and are available worldwide through Moss Motors ...

I am not too familiar with the mini. I looked at Moss, but could not find the part you are talking about. Could you please post the part number?
Thanks

Got the gasket part number wrong. it should be 115-894. These are the small chrome buttons as used on the Mk1 and Mk1a hardtop qtr windows. The larger buttons used on the '67 hardtop (Mk2) are currently not available.

The chrome buttons are $14.99 and the gaskets are $1.79.

I only know about this because I have a '67 Mini Cooper S in the shop right now!
