The new one is on the right and the left is an original. Much taller rubber and shorter adjuster bolt on the ones now being sold by some suppliers .Yes. The new ones have more adjustment
The taller ones do not allow the use of the nut. They bottom out on the body without having the nut installed. I found that the taller ones set pretty much even with the body which keeps the hood corners from setting flush with the body.Hi Bob, just wondering if the stock ones that are shorter needed more adjustment, where as the newer configuration takes up that “slack” and gets you there with just a turn or two? I think I have a set of the newer style on my car and seem to work well with a stock hood.
Is there enough rubber on the top side of the new buffers that you could shave it down until the hood fits flush? The taller ones do not allow the use of the nut. There's plenty of extra rubber to shave down to the size of the originals if you have the time. I just don't have time for it. I have so much stuff stashed that I have no idea where or when I bought the tall buffers. I have several of them. They may be 20 or 30 years old. Who knows? We'll be at the Carlisle Import next week and I plan to see what size buffers are for sale.Is there enough rubber on the top side of the new buffers that you could shave it down until the hood fits flush?
