Stock tank cap.

Awesome I like the new gasket on top of the old gasket fix. Did you buy a new old stock gasket or just pile up two old ones.
I will be suggesting that function tests at car shows add let's open the gas cap. I forgot to mention when I took the cap apart I put the spring in the vise grips and then into the vise so I could stretch the spring out and get a little more squish power from the spring.
;)

The summer grade gas in this part of the world really stinks. We were at an SVRA meet this past weekend and I had the 69 GT on the trailer and when I parked the rig behind the garage I could smell the stink. The gas cap is similar to the series bodies and pressure had built up in the tank and was forcing the vent to open.

Poorly designed stock gas cap and probably made in Wolverhampton like the others. We all have the same gas and I wasn't going to post my temp fix but here it is. It could also be a anti theft device. I recall a thread where a Tiger owner complained his vent was clogged . No vent no go go juice.
Plus we have all been using the wrong thing to fix our Tigers;)
Thinking of plugging the drilled hole in the 1.5" cap to keep the " blended " fuel from evaporating and making the man cave more pleasant.

Looks like a hybrid cork rubber. I have some of that material in the garage gasket drawer. Made mine out of sheet rubber. Black stuff is an Ace Hardware but Home Depot only has the red stuff. I only keep the tank full when traveling, or when gas was cheap... :(
Had some really good times and miles of smile's.

We all don't have the same blend of gasoline. There are at least 14 different blends of summer grade gas thru out the country based on smog or carbon monoxide and average temps in an area. Winter grade gas is oxygenated gas to enhance burning of the fuel in order to prevent higher CO emissions. Warmer summer temps don't require the gas being oxygenated. California has it's own standards due to the year round warmer climate. In the area that I live in all of the winter grade gas has to be used up at the terminals due to clean air regs that prohibit the mixing of summer and any left over winter grade. The winter blend varies from city to city in other states based on colder winter temps. It's estimated that 97% of all gas sold in the U.S. is now a 10% blend of ethanol.
