Which waterpumps work with our Tigers? The early C4AZ-6019-A timing covers seem to be only made by Scott Drake/Holley and are unavailable until 12/24. I called everyone! My plan is to use the later C4AZ-6019-B timing cover but the waterpumps that I've found for this cover have a step behind the hub from 5/8" to 3/4" which prevents pressing the hub back on the shaft to align the belt. I tried Tuff Stuff 1432, Milodon 16330 and GMB 125-1420 and all have this step behind the hub. Does anyone know of a waterpump that will work with the later timing cover which has a constant 5/8" shaft or have a new C4AZ-6019-A that they're not needing, or a solution to my problem?

I am not a machinist, but can the step be turned down enough on a lathe to allow the hub to be mounted back on the shaft? Of course, it does add to the cost.

I have some healthy older timing covers for the older aluminum pump. Minor pitting only.

Machining the hub is easiest. Next would be to replace the impeller assembly with shaft with one from Flow Kooler and thereby gain additional flow at the same time. Machining the shaft is more work, as is a custom pulley

Original pumps had the flange for the pulley and fan, but had an additional collar pressed on. The collar is not shown as a separate part in the factory parts book, but every original pump I have seen has it as a separate piece. My understanding is that it's a late 50's passenger car application. I had some of these collars made. The earlier cover is for the 260 with an alloy water pump and the later timing cover is for the cast iron pump. I buy rebuilt (or new) pumps from Napa. Neither the cast alloy or cast iron pump will come with the collar. Both pumps originally had a 5/8" shaft. (As do the new ones from Napa) These come with the proper flange for the pulley/fan, but do not include the collar which I press on.

The depth of the flange (for pully alignment) can easily be altered with a press, but obviously needs to be done before the back plate is affixed.

The dimensions of the collar are 1" o.d. 5/8" i.d. 3/8" thick , outer 1/8" edge chamfered at 45 degrees

NPD sells the early timing cover for alloy water pumps under part number 6019-0A. The later cover for cast iron water pumps is 6019-1A.
