Red windlace

I'm in the process of having Martha make a red interior for my Mk2. Polar white cars were the only Mk2 that could have had an interior in any color other than black. On that note the windlace that runs up the hinge pillar should be red as should the pinchlace along the bottom of the door opening under the alloy trim plate.

For others planning on interiors other than black I'd thought I'd share sources for these products. Woolies-trim.co.uk can supply both the windlace and the pinchlace in a variety of colors. Moss can supply the windlace in red or black. The moss offering comes out of the Bugeye Sprite catalog.

both parts from both sources are available with Fuzzy or Woven (as original for Tigers). The Alpine parts books show fuzzy as an alternative.

If your bent is using the fuzzy windlace, Moss can supply it in blue and fawn (tan). Woolies can supply it in green as well, as it was used on Jag XK's.

Sean, it's interesting you used the term windlace, I knew what you meant by the description of location... It's funny that I've always reffed to it as "furflex" ...then I was wondering if that was a term for the more velvet effect one... But no...both come in the woven and velvet style.

Windlace is the generic description used for pretty much all vintage cars. sometimes it has a section "the pinch part" that goes over a body seam, in other cases it has a Flap that is tacked, stapled, or glued in place. Furflex is a term generally used on British cars to describe the moquette covered, or woven windlace and it actually the trade name of the product.
