What is the size and thread count of the large nut which holds the steering wheel on? Seems mine is buggered and I need to know what size die to use to clean the threads on the column and of course the corresponding tap for the nut.
Thanks,
Bill

Got a couple apart and they are 3/4" . I'll take one of the nuts down to the machinists for a thread count in the AM. I don't keep any taps or chase nuts above 5/8" here. Appears to be a fine thread count.

EDIT OOPS: These are the double nuts on the dog leg end of the later shafts. I'll pop a steering wheel later this weekend and get you that info.

Thanks, guys. I managed to get the nut on there, but what I used was a 9/16 x 18 NF die and tap to re-thread the column and the nut. Not sure if that's what they were originally, but they are now! Anyway, I think 3/4 is too large...

It would be nice to know what they're supposed to be from the factory, just for future reference.

Thanks, Bill :D
