Single means the same car continuously. Not one car for 3 years then another for 15 making a total of 18. Answer would be 15 years for a longest owned individual car. Car can be running or not, unregistered, in pieces or buried in the barn OK for vote too.

I have owned my mkll for 28 years now. There are alot of people in my neck of the woods that have owned there cars for 20 to 25 and more. They don't trade hands too often, real enthusiasts.

I have 2 Series V Alpines, one is unfortunately only for parts and the other is patiently waiting for a restart on the restoration. I am currently working on my 1966 Mk1a Tiger which is nearing completion. Interestingly enough the Alpine that will be restored is a RHD with overdrive and I am the second owner! It needs a lot of work however.

Wish I could add all the time up between the 5 Tigers and 5+ Alpines...:(
The longest single time was about 12+ yrs.
 
Poll stats

I have been underwhelmed by participation in the past polls which I found interesting but were blindly ignored by many.

This one is setting records (40 +) and that's great until you consider that in the last 24 hours there have been visits by 58 registered users to the Forum. This poll has been up for 3 days!

Why is it some (a majority?) do not participate in these polls? They are anonymous and even the Admins cannot know who voted.

It only takes a minute or so to do the math and please do participate.

I too have been surprised. I kept seeing the poll dropping down on the list. I see now that unless a post is made voting alone doesn't bring it back up.

Rick, I guess we have to consider that a lot of those 58 visits may just be to check out how the poll is going. I know I have peeked several times, 56 or 57 times myself ... no, just kidding. Thanks for your support.

66 and 67 tigers

So how do I vote ?
Got my 66 1a in July of 1971 sold it in July of 1981 got it back in July of 2008.
The 67 I got in Jan of 2001, not on road hanging on Rotisserie past 2 years.

A vision of things to come, make it last as long as possible then re-cycle. Not how we thought back in the day.

So has anyone considered chopping off the back end of a Tiger / Alpine and converting the trunk into a comfy chair?
 
Bought mine new from the dealer in Vallejo on Dec.28, 1965 and it was registered as a 1966 model since it was past the DMV cutoff date for 1965 models. 47 years next month!
 
my Alpine's ownership birthday is coming up... November 17 1996 I picked it up and it came home... the Tiger is coming up too.. 6th December 2006 when i started the buying process.. that said after sorting shipping, import clearence and then it actually getting down here it as May 2007 before it landed in Australia.

Just recently joined C.A.T. (former STOA and Vancouver Island Tiger/Alpine member) and was reading through the hugely informative posts, when I stumbled upon your survey. Purchased my MK1A in '76, drove it for a few years, then disassembled, and over a number of years, as $$ became available, restored/personalized it and then drove it for about 200 miles before putting it into storage when I moved away. Long story...
Now that I am able to dedicate some time to the effort and with the goal of getting it on the road by Spring '13, I am re-doing and improving many systems in order to bring the car up to date mechanically, raise HP and Tq, and improve handling.
The Teflon Cruiser ('vette) owners won't be happy to see me back on the road.

Purchased my Mark II in 1978 in Denver... then a Mark I in 1979. Still have both of them. Glad I do...:)

Good to see more owners in the 1-5 year group. May mean they might be future 50 year owners some day.

Welcome. Guess you selected the 36-40 year group? If I had waited a few months more before posting the poll I would have been in the same group.
 
MK1A Tiger

I have had my tiger since 1994, 18 years. It is the longest I have owned any car, hands down!

Good point Michael! Tiger prices are not the same now as when I bought my first Tiger for $650 when I was 19 years old. I had it running and driving in a few months. How many 19 year olds today even know about or desire to own a Tiger let alone have the money to buy a project Tiger which would cost much more than it did back in the day? For the record, I am now 56-and loving it!! Eric
