Having a bit of a prince of darkness moment. A fuse blew on the way back from Oxnard. I only had one that was a lower original style paper in the center factory style fuse it was less than the 17 maybe 11 and it blew nearly right away and it crumbled when removed. The water temp and fuel gauges fan motor and wipers, the tach went dead too.

I replaced the blown fuse with a 11 I had on hand and those last like 3 or 4 minutes when driving. When I got home I dropped in a 20 and let the car idle for 10 min in garage no blow.

The car is pretty tidy with the only electrical gremlin being the panel lights glitch off when headlights on.

Ideas thoughts?

I guess I need some of Sunbeam Specialties fuses, going to have to buy a big pile for that 25 dollar min order:eek:

Anyone seen a reasonable substitute at auto parts stores?

Warren, just about everybody still carries 35 amp glass fuses...a pack of 5 runs about three and a half bucks at the local O'Reilly's.

I hadn't heard about a $25 minimum order from Rick...I'm sure I've ordered less before. I've also ordered a lot more!

Yes

I know everyone has 35 amp fuses,I have some too, but in addition to being a little longer and a poor fit.

Maybe I should have asked, what's up with the 17 constant 35.

Like you can use only 17 amps and can only use a short term current demand of 35 before the fuse blows?

You have 35's in your fuse box?

44 years and counting

Warren, in all the years I've owned Tigers, I've always had just the two 35 amp fuses...Russian Roulette? Maybe...
